Mother’s Day is quickly approaching and I have five of my most favorite small shops to share with you today! But first, I have to start this post with a picture of my sweet mama! Y’all I can’t even tell you how much I adore and love her. She is truly my right hand. In addition to imparting me with Godly wisdom and showering me with unconditional love, she helps me to manage this insane life I live. I honestly don’t know how I managed when I didn’t live 45 minutes away from her! And if you know her, you love her as much as me. I hit the mama jackpot!
I know I sure want to bless my mama for Mother’s Day and I bet there’s a mama in your life you want to bless too (whether it’s your mom, stepmom, grandmother, sister, aunt, daughter, or just a special lady that feels like mama to you)! Here come five small shops I adore and it would be an honor if you would help me bless them as you bless the mama in your life.
I am a long time fan of Mrs. Barbara Rainey! (She and her husband, Dennis founded FamilyLife in 1976.) And when my sister shipped me a copy of her new book, My Heart, Ever His, for my birthday I was elated. Barbara intimately shares her heart in this book of forty prayers. She scripted beautiful, precious prayers centered around fear, disappointment, marriage, children, waiting plus much more. I’ve already started reading and I’m in love. This would be such a special book for the mother in your life. (And you can use code SARA10 through midnight 4/26/20 for an additional 10% off Barbara’s book on everthinehome.com. Plus be sure to check out their sale section of 75% off items!)
Y’all I can’t even tell you how much I adore Danielle, the insanely talented handletterer behind the brand Imperfect Dust. We connected almost a year ago and honestly not many days go by that we don’t text or voice message. I am absolutely blown away by her faith and her talent. And I have no doubt you guys will be too. Her work can be found in Kirklands, TJ Maxx and Hobby Lobby among other places. Be sure to check out her signature hymn boards and her new book Lettering for Absolute Beginners!
Oh my goodness and here’s another friend that makes my heart explode! Meet Stephanie of Returning Grace Designs. Not only is Stephanie a fellow Louisiana lady, but she also holds a special place in my heart because she loved on and supported me when Simply Southern Cottage was just a little baby. Stephanie trusted me with styling and photographing her products. And when I was just getting started with my social media presence this meant more to me than you could ever know. I have SOOOO many of Stephanie’s pillow covers and tea towels in my home. I absolutely adore everything she creates and I know you will too!
Ok, if you know me well, you KNOW I LOVE to change out my front door mat with the seasons. Don’t even ask how many I have. But truly, this BLOOM mat from Nickel Designs Shop just might be my fav to date. Earlier this year, I was incredibly fortunate to connect with sweet Nicole (the owner) and fell completely head over heels in love with her work. She has a TON of designs in her Etsy shop and I know you will absolutely love her creations. And, if you use code SARA15, she’s extending a 15% off discount just for you guys!
And last but not least, please meet my precious friend Rosana with Nest of Petals. Oh my word the first time I laid eyes on Rosana’s hand embroidered pillows I fell COMPELTELY in love (seriously some of the most beautiful hand stitching work I’ve ever seen)! In Rosana’s Etsy shop, she has sooooo many designs and sizes to choose from, but personally, I think this blessed mama pillow just takes the cake. I had the incredible privilege of meeting Rosana last summer and she truly was as sweet in person as I knew she would be! I promise this is another small shop you won’t be able to get enough of. (And use code SARA15 for an additional 15% off.)
Y’all I can’t even begin to tell you the amazing people I’ve connected with all because of my little broken down, Louisiana cottage. Every day I wake up in awe of the incredible life the Lord has graciously gifted me! I can’t believe I get the awesome privilege of being connected with these five insanely talented shopkeepers. If you are in search of a unique and special Mother’s Day gift, I sure hope you will help me bless one of these sweet ladies. Happy Mother’s Day to all! Hug your special lady especially tight for me.
I am interested in your front door wreath. How do you purchase items?
HI Marilyn! I got all the flowers at At Home and the grapevine wreath from Goodwill.
I’m confused…..have you closed down your blog? And I just heard about it right before your last post. I was looking forward to more from your refreshing perspective. Hope you and yours are doing all right. Karen L.
Hi Karen! I’m still here! So sorry for the delay! My website is still up, I just haven’t had much time to write! Please forgive me!
what about your covered dining rooms chairs in cowhide? Did you do that? How?
Hi there! My friend Chair Whimsy made them. Check out http://www.chairwhimsy.com
