Why I’m Turning To Intermittent Fasting

Intermittent fasting seems to be one of the best ways to lose a few pounds while also improving your overall health. I did it briefly a few years ago, then fell off the wagon. 😭 Since 2020, I’ve gained about 20 pounds. It’s been a perfect storm of stress, eating poorly, and hormones (I’m 47 as a type this and in perimenopause). I’m not overweight, but I’m not where I feel most comfortable, either. So, I’ve decided to start back with intermittent fasting. It’s a decision I’ve made after a lot of research, and my doctor also recommended it. (Before you start ANY health-related or eating plan, definitely consult your physician.)

My Journey So Far

I’ve always tried to stay active and eat healthy, but it’s been harder lately. I work almost constantly and frequently, eat on the go. Perimenopause has made my hormones go a bit wild (ugh), and this has caused me to pack on a few pounds. I know I’m not alone in this, and many people struggle with changes in their bodies as they get older. For me, it’s been frustrating to see the scale go up and my clothes get tighter. In fact a few weeks ago, I sold off all my size 0 and 1 shorts on Facebook.

Why Intermittent Fasting?

I did some research and found out about intermittent fasting. It’s a way of eating where you have specific times for eating and fasting. Here are some reasons why I think this will help me:

  1. Simple to Follow: I like that intermittent fasting doesn’t require complicated meal plans or calorie counting. I just need to eat within a certain window of time each day.
  2. Helps Control Hunger: By eating in a smaller window, I hope to control my hunger and avoid snacking late at night.
  3. Boosts Metabolism: Intermittent fasting can help boost my metabolism, which is great because perimenopause can slow it down.
  4. Supports Healthy Aging: There are studies that suggest intermittent fasting can help with healthy aging, and I want to feel my best as I get older.

Using the Simple App (Use code SARA70 to save 70% off!)

I’m using the Simple App to keep track of my fasting and ensure I’m doing it right. It’s been really helpful so far! Here are some things I love about it:

  1. Easy Tracking: The Simple App lets me easily track my fasting and eating windows. I can see how long I’ve been fasting and when to eat.
  2. Reminders and Tips: The app sends reminders to start and stop fasting. It also gives me tips on how to stay hydrated and make healthy food choices.
  3. Progress Reports: I can see my progress over time. It’s motivating to see how many hours I’ve fasted and how it’s helping me get back to my comfortable weight.
  4. Community Support: There’s a community feature where I can connect with others who are also doing intermittent fasting. It’s nice to share experiences and get support.

Benefits I’m Looking Forward To

I’m hopeful that intermittent fasting will bring many benefits. Here are a few I’m excited about:

  1. Weight Loss: I hope to lose the 20 pounds I’ve gained and feel more comfortable in my clothes. Simple App says if I follow their plan to eat for 8 hours and fast for 16, I could lose this weight by Oct 15th!
  2. More Energy: I’ve read that intermittent fasting can boost energy levels. I could definitely use more energy to keep up with my busy life.
  3. Better Focus: Many people say they feel more focused and clear-headed when they fast. I’m looking forward to seeing if this works for me too.
  4. Improved Health: Intermittent fasting has been linked to better heart health, reduced inflammation, and even a lower risk of some diseases. I want to do everything I can to stay healthy. Another way I do this is by reaching for healthier substitution options. Rather than drinking coffee every morning, I’ve been drinking Pique Nandaka as an alternative!

I’m starting intermittent fasting again and I’m excited to see where it takes me. I know it won’t be easy, but with the Simple App’s help and determination, I’m hopeful I can get back to a weight where I feel comfortable and healthy. If you want to try Simple App too, use code SARA70 to get 70% off! You will love it as much as I do. 💗 If you’re considering intermittent fasting, I’d love to hear your thoughts and experiences below!
