Nancy Meyers Would Totally Approve of My House

If you’ve been around here for a minute, you know there’s one vibe I’ll never get tired of: a cozy, lived-in, Nancy Meyers kind of home. You know the look — dreamy kitchens, fluffy couches, baskets full of throw blankets, a little bit fancy but still super welcoming. I didn’t even realize it until recently, but… my house totally fits that vibe. And honestly? I’m not mad about it.

The Kitchen

Let’s start with the kitchen, because obviously. In every Nancy Meyers movie, the kitchen is basically the main character. Big islands, open shelving, stacks of bowls, a pitcher of flowers sitting right by the sink… it’s all just so GOOD. My kitchen is exactly like that — a little messy in the best way. Cutting boards always out, fruit bowls filled (except when I forget and the bananas go brown lol), and a candle burning basically 24/7. It’s not fancy. It’s real. And it feels like home.

Comfy Couches

And can we talk about couches for a second?? Nancy Meyers couches are next-level. They’re deep, oversized, and basically begging you to cancel your plans and take a nap. I’m proud to report my living room is fully nap-approved. Squishy cushions, a ridiculous amount of throw pillows, blankets on every arm of every chair… Is it a little much? Maybe. Do I care? Not even a little.

Color Aesthetic

The colors in my house totally fit the Nancy Meyers aesthetic too — all soft neutrals and warm wood tones. Creamy whites, cozy beiges, soft blues… the kind of colors that make you take a deep breath and instantly feel a little more relaxed. Nothing too bold or in-your-face. Just layers and layers of cozy.

The Backyard

Oh, and the backyard! Every Nancy Meyers movie has that dreamy outdoor space where people have life-changing conversations over a glass of wine. (Or cry. Or fall in love. Or all three.) While I’m not out here growing olives in Italy, my backyard definitely has that laid-back, twinkle-light magic. A big table for outdoor dinners? Yes please. String lights overhead? YES. And lots of beautiful plants!

Final Thoughts

Here’s the thing — and it’s something I think a lot of people miss — the real Nancy Meyers aesthetic isn’t just about looks. It’s about feelings. It’s about a house that feels lived in and loved on. A house that isn’t perfect or staged but feels like you could plop down on the couch with a messy bun and a cup of coffee and stay awhile.

That’s the kind of home I always wanted. And somehow (without even trying), that’s the kind of home I’ve created.

Now if anyone needs me, I’ll be lighting a candle, fluffing my 37 throw pillows, and living my best Nancy Meyers life. 🕯️🍋📚
