Springtime is upon us, and there’s no better way to welcome the warmer days and blooming flowers than setting a delightful table with the timeless charm of Franciscan Desert Rose dishes. These dishes carry a rich history that’ll make your table not just a feast for the eyes but will take you on a trip down memory lane.
Before we dive into styling your spring table, let’s take a stroll down memory lane. Franciscan Desert Rose dishes have been gracing tables since the late 1940s. Designed by Mary Winfield, these dishes boast a pattern inspired by the bountiful beauty of a garden in full bloom. My Desert Rose dishes once belonged to my Granny Wheeler and were the dishes she got for her wedding.
This iconic pattern features delicate pink roses, green leaves, and a touch of Southern elegance. It’s like having a piece of southern charm right on your table. Franciscan Desert Rose dishes have a way of connecting folks to the past, reminding us of simpler times when gathering around the table was a cherished tradition.
Now, let’s get down to the nitty-gritty of styling your spring table with Franciscan Desert Rose dishes. Imagine this: a sun-drenched afternoon, sweet tea in hand, and a table adorned with the prettiest blooms – both on your dishes and in the center of your table.
So there you have it – a Southern springtime tablescape that’ll have your friends and family talking about it for years to come. The charm of Franciscan Desert Rose dishes, paired with a dash of Southern hospitality, creates a tablescape that’s as warm as a Southern breeze.
As you gather around your table, remember that it’s not just a meal – it’s a moment. A moment to cherish the past, celebrate the present, and look forward to the blooming future. Happy styling, y’all!
Send me any pics of your Franciscan Desert Rose or your spring tablescape. I would love to see! Then, hop below and tell me your memories and stories of this cherished pattern.
I’m in my mid 70’s now and as a child I remember these dishes at the table for every large family gathering. My grandma and two of her sisters had the desert rose pattern as their “good” dishes and even when we had 40 pr 50 people for a family celebration, the table settings all matched with this beautiful pattern. Great memories every time I see desert rose dishes. My grandma’s dishes are now continuing their tradition with her namesake and great great granddaughter.
I had seen this pattern when I worked at a gift shop back in the late 70s. It wasn’t until I saw your photos and Wendy’s on a Desert Rose table setting that I started to collect this pattern. I even named my little side hustle Desert Rose.💖
Simply beautiful!! I’m inspired to get out all of my spring decor now!!💗💗
I inherited my Desert Rose from my grandmother and have added to them over the years. I never get tired of looking at them. They bring back so many memories.
