Classic Cottage Style: A Southern Home Tour You’ll Want to Save.

My little cottage turns 100 years old this year, and in many ways, I feel every one of those years right alongside it. I bought this home ten years ago, unaware that it would become the setting for some of the hardest, holiest, and most transformative seasons of my life. What I thought was a renovation project slowly revealed itself as something much deeper a place where I would learn to wait, to grieve, to rebuild, and to trust again.

This home has held more than furniture and finishes. It has held prayers whispered into quiet rooms, long stretches of uncertainty, and the slow work of becoming someone new. As you walk through the tour below, you are stepping into that story. I invite you to read through the journey, room by room, season by season. And if something catches your eye, you can tap each photo to shop the same or similar pieces in every space so you can carry a piece of this cottage into your own home.

A century old and still full of charm, this southern cottage proves that classic design never goes out of style.
This wide southern front porch is my favorite spot to slow down, sip my coffee, and greet the day as the sun comes up.
This cozy living room is designed for slow evenings by the fire, with a little library nook that makes it hard to ever want to leave.
Looking into the dining room, where the original wood ceilings tell the story of this home’s 100-year history and add so much warmth to the space.
A bright, welcoming kitchen that overlooks a historic park—made even better by a four-legged friend always nearby.
Hydrangeas growing just outside my kitchen window are a simple joy, bringing a little bit of the garden into the heart of my home.
A simple hallway that opens into my office, filled with light, old wood floors, and the kind of calm that makes the space feel inviting.
I repurposed the old kitchen shelves for office storage, letting the room keep its history while making space for everyday work.
There’s something so comforting about the way the afternoon light moves through this room, warming the bed and slowing the day down.
This bathroom feels like a small act of self-care, a peaceful corner of the house where I can truly relax.
These little details are what make the house feel like home—layered textures, well-loved pieces, and a sense of southern charm.
Generations meet in this corner of the kitchen, where my great grandmother’s pie safe now holds my granny’s dishes and so many memories.
This backdoor mudbench has become a quiet catch-all, holding shoes, bags, and the rhythm of everyday life.
This back porch faces west, making it my favorite place to settle in and watch the sun set.
A backyard garden made for wandering, watering, and appreciating the small moments in between.
Ten years ago, this 100-year-old cottage became mine. What I didn’t know then was how deeply it would shape my life and the journey that followed.

If this home stirred something in you, I hope it reminded you of the beauty found in places with history and heart. The story this cottage represents continues just beyond these walls in Minden, Louisiana. If you ever feel drawn to slower mornings, historic charm, and thoughtfully restored spaces, come visit our town. Stay in one of my guest properties, explore our walkable downtown, and stop by my little vintage clothing shop to browse pieces that carry stories of their own.

Thank you for spending time here and walking through this chapter with me. This journey is still unfolding, and I’d love for you to continue following along through old houses, meaningful work, and the stories that connect us all.
