Styling Your Living, Bedroom & Bathroom This Christmas Season

I can hardly believe that in just over a month, it will be Christmas! There are so many festive options for decorating your home. Here are a few practical tips for decorating all the corners of your Christmas home to create a dreamy holiday space.

Holiday Bedroom

Your bedroom might be the last place you think of decorating for Christmas, but hopefully, I can change your mind! *wink* Do you have a Christmas tree in your bedroom? One of my favorite things to do during the Christmas season is to sleep in my cozy bed and leave the tree lights on. It revives nostalgia and brings back the magic of Christmas I felt as a child. This North Pole Trading Co. Flannel Sheet Set is this cozy bedding base. The next step is choosing a comforter/duvet, and I love this adorable three piece comforter set. And, you know me… always going crazy with the throw pillows! *face palm* You can never have too many! These North Pole Trading Co. Square Throw Pillows or this lumbar pillow are great options. Finally, I needed to add a centerpiece that matched the holiday spirit, and I chose to create a gallery wall with these Holiday Lane Wreaths.

Bedroom From Christmas Past

I usually only make small changes here and there each Christmas season. Updating your bedding is a game changer; it can elevate the feel of Christmas in your home. In the first picture, I used a similar flannel duvet cover for my bedding and love how it turned out. It matches my wrapping paper!  I added a flocked Christmas tree in the corner that lights up beautifully. The last small detail is this wood bead garland I have draped over the canvas above my bed. After decorating elsewhere in my house, I had some extra lying around and thought this was the perfect spot.

My room on the right is very simple and elegant and is from a few years ago (right after I moved into my cottage). If you are not into all the reds and bright colors of the holidays, this is a simpler design that can work in your home. I used my beige comforter and added touches of greenery throughout my room. I didn’t want to add a grand tree in here since the rest of the space is so simple, so I went with a simple tree like this Rock Pine Artificial Christmas Tree. It has lots of empty space in between the branches, which works well here. Last but not least, I added a tin tub similar to this adorable tin Christmas tree collar

Christmas Styled Sitting Room

This room is staged for my Christmas photoshoot with Cottages and Bungalows and actually appeared on the 2020 Christmas cover!!!  I am so pleased with how this space turned out, and I would keep it up year-round if that were acceptable. Above the mantle, I have this scroll from Cottonwood Shanty, which I love! I highly recommend checking her out for any season.  She has SO many cute scrolls.  I got this one back in 2019. My mom and I actually made the magnolia garland and arrangement.  My spectacular tree is from Hammacher Schlemmer.  Those adorable stockings are from an Etsy seller that appears to have gone offline, but here are some that are similar.

Here is a peak from a previous year without the tree in this room. It is still just as fabulous and simple, with some simple throw pillows and garland above the mantle. Even with a little less, this space is still just as cozy and perfect for cuddling up and reading Christmas stories with the family.

Christmas Bathroom

The last stop on this holiday home tour is the bathroom! It didn’t take much to make to turn this space into a Christmas wonderland. All you need is a few matching towel bath sets that are Christmas-themed, such as these Christmas in the Country Guest Towels. I added a few personal touches with this Christmas tree lotion dispenser because it matches the towels! A few plants in this space highlight the red and green. Last but not least (and you might have noticed by now), I like to add a wreath to almost every room to top it off.

Celebrating is always more fun in a festive home! I typically re-use pieces I have collected over the years and try to switch up the styles to see what I can create. My biggest tip for Christmas decor shopping is to find more significant pieces that stand out in a room. Be sure to check out this post for holiday tablescape ideas.
